The study of classical solo piano literature, theory and technique form the core of our work together, around which we enjoy various styles of music (such as jazz, pop and sacred), playing by ear, and ensemble and collaborative performance.
In addition to weekly individual lessons, we also experience fall and spring workshops, and performance in our Christmas and
Spring Recitals and the National Guild Piano Auditions.
Workshops provide an opportunity for students to perform for each other, explore an area of music together and form friendships within the studio community.
Performing memorized pieces and various skill tests in the National Guild Piano Auditions (held locally each May) offers students these benefits:
~ a year-long goal motivating students to polish, memorize and sustain several pieces simultaneously at their peak
~ written evaluation of each student’s musicianship by an outstanding and objective nationally selected pianist
~ a satisfying culmination of the year’s best work and finest pieces
